This Week's Indie Box Office
Tuesday July 29, 2003
The IFC release "Camp" sang and danced its way to the top spot of the indie box office, earning $54,000 over the weekend. Often compared to Alan Rudolph's "Fame" and TV's "American Idol," Todd Graff's musical comedy is about three outcast kids who attend performing camp in Upstate New York. Stephen Frear's "Dirty Pretty Things" dropped to second and Larry Clark's "Masked And Anonymous" starring the legendary Bob Dylan took the third spot. The Miramax release "Buffalo Soldiers" opened quietly, whereas Fox Searchlight simply shut down the abysmal "Garage Days." After only one week in the theaters, it's not playing anywhere. Period.
