The Indie Box Office: "Lost In Translation"
Thursday September 18, 2003
It's amazing what rave reviews from some of the country's most esteemed film critics - The New York Times, Roger Ebert, Salon, and yours truly - can do for a film. Sofia Coppola's "Lost In Translation" had the highest box office opening of any independent film of the year. Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato's "Party Monster" dropped to the second spot, and the gay romantic comedy "Luster" had the third highest take. Opening this weekend are John Sayles' "Casa de Los Babys," Oliver Assayas' "demonlover" and Michael Winterbottom's "In This World."
