Tribeca Film Festival in Full Swing
Tuesday May 4, 2004
For the third time, the annual Tribeca Film Festival takes over Lower Manhattan this week. In sharp contrast to Lincoln Center's select New York Film Festival, Robert DeNiro's sprawling TFF is a all-inclusive affair that features scores of films, premieres, galas, parties, panel discussions, drive-in movies, even a street fair. Unfocused but generous, the festival screens selections in a wide variety of categories, including a feature competition, documentaries, revivals, spotlights, short films, and midnight screenings. Some of the most anticipated films this year include the Kate Hudson premiere "Raising Helen," Lisa Cholodenko's "Cavedweller," Mario Van Peebles' "Baadasssss!", Jim Jarmush's "Coffee & Cigarettes," Zak Tucker's "Poster Boy," the gay marriage doc "Tying the Knot," and the outrageously funny Danish animation "Terkel in Trouble."
The Tribeca Film Festival continues until May 9. For more information and tickets (yes, there are still tickets), see the official site at tribecafilmefestival.com.
