At the independent box office, "Metallica: Some Kind of Monster" took the top spot of the weekend, packing theaters in New York and San Francisco. On a per-screen-average, Richard Linklater's romantic drama "Before Sunset" fell to second, followed by three more documentaries, "The Corporation" and "Fahrenheit 9/11" and "Riding Giants."
