It is a difficult watch but that is entirely because of Reggio’s decision to rely entirely on sourced material rather than shooting footage specifically. Reggio has said that these sourced images were the locations of the film rather than the physical locations of the first two. The first two films were made in a different era that of pre digital photochemical filmmaking, the third film is as the first two are a reflection on where we are at and heading as a species.
