Coming Soon: Bjork, Barney, and a Whaling Ship

Wednesday November 23, 2005
Bjork had a famously difficult time working with Lars von Trier on her first film "Dancer in the Dark." So bad, in fact, that the Icelandic singer decided to give up acting altogether. Five years later, however, she went in front of the camera again, this time working in harmonious collaboration with her partner, acclaimed artist Matthew Barney ("The Cremaster Cycle"). The avant-garde film "Drawing Restraint 9" is set aboard a Japanese whaling ship, and there is no dialogue. The striking pair will arrive on the ship to be groomed and dressed by geishas. Bjork has also composed the soundtrack and talks with New York Magazine about the experience.
