New York Film Festival: Marie Antoinette
Tuesday September 19, 2006
The 44th New York Film Festival began screening its selections for the press today at Lincoln Center, and Jürgen caught Sofia Coppola's much-anticipated Marie Antoinette. Like every year, there is much to be excited about at the NYFF, but the hip biopic about the French queen, starring Kirsten Dunst, was the festival's first disappointment. Read Jürgen's take on Marie Antoinette.
Stay tuned for more from the NYFF, including Guillermo del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth, Todd Field's Little Children, Stephen Frears' The Queen, Pedro Almodovar's Volver, David Lynch's Inland Empire, and much more. The Film Society at Lincoln Center has the complete line-up.

I missed this early screening at the fest, but I am so disappointed about this sad, sad response.
I loved Lost in Translation and I want Marie Antoniette to be wonderful, despite being convinced by Jurgen’s review and some misgivings of my own. I’ll have to see it for myself and maybe post a second take.
