MoMA Surveys Contemporary German Cinema

New York's Museum of Modern Art is sampling the best of contemporary German cinema with its annual Kino! series, now in its 28th year. Robert Thalheim's And Along Come Tourists, a wise and sensitive film about a young German in present-day Auschwitz, opened the series on Thursday. Jürgen has the review; And Along Come Tourists screens again tomorrow at 2pm.
Other highlights of the program include Christian Petzold's Silver Bear-winner Yella (review), starring Nina Hoss, the Hamptons Fest winner Valerie, and Ulrike Ottinger's Prater. A Kino! Berlin sidebar also screens some of the best recent films set in Berlin, including Good Bye, Lenin, The Lives of Others, and Run Lola Run. MoMA's site has the complete schedule. Kino! 2007 runs through November 14.
