Review: Redacted

Brian De Palma's Redacted has been stoking the flames of controversy since its first screening at the New York Film Festival. Now Fox News pundit Bill O'Reilly announced that he would never watch the movie -- but he has called for a boycott anyway. What's so upsetting to Mr. O'Reilly? Redacted is the devastating reconstruction of the rape and murder of an Iraqi girl by American soldiers in Samarra in 2006, and the title refers to the images of death and destruction that have been conspicuously absent from the news, Mr. O'Reilly's channel included.
Is Redacted a necessary confrontation with the horrifying consequences of U.S. foreign policy or treasonous anti-American propaganda? You'll be able to form your own opinion when Redacted opens tomorrow. In the meantime, here's Jürgen's review, and a video from the NYFF press conference. Previously: Redacting Redacted.
