Juno Tops Indie Spirit Awards

Saturday February 23, 2008
Juno may be the film with the highest grossing box office earnings ($135 million) in the pool of films nominated for Best Picture at tomorrow's Academy Awards. Today, however, in an informal beach ceremony hosted by Rainn Williams, the quirky comedy about a pregnant teenager who gives her baby up for adoption was crowned the leading independent film of 2008. Juno received top awards for Best Feature Film, Best Female Lead for Ellen Page, and Best First Screenplay for Diablo Cody.

"This is the coolest award in the coolest category," said a jubilant Cody (pictured), accepting her award for Best First Screenplay.

The complete list of the winners.
