A Brief List of Lists We Like
Wednesday July 30, 2008

It is a truth universally acknowledged that lists are B.S. -- but the blogger who doesn't enjoy arguing over them has yet to hit the post button. Here are three recent lists we particularly enjoyed:
- Let's step outside: Dennis Lim takes a close look at the evolution of the fight scene, from Raging Bull and Return of the Dragon to The Bourne Ultimatum and Batman Begins, with a final tip of the hat to Park Chanwook's Oldboy and the bathhouse scene from Eastern Promises. With video clips!
- 10 Sadly Underseen Films: At IFC, Aaron Hillis counts off "10 auteurist gems," from One From the Heart to Ten Canoes. We don't know how he possibly could have missed One, Two, Three and 9 Songs, but that's lists for ya.
- My Top Ten Criterions. With a disclaimer that the result is "pretty goofy" (we disagree), GreenCine's David Hudson picks his favorite Criterion DVDs off the shelf.

Why, I’ll tell you how: I thought 9 Songs was a failed, forgettable experiment with a decent soundtrack, and One, Two, Three isn’t quite as underseen as those that made the cut; plenty of people (myself included) already know and love it!
Thanks for the linkage, yo.
