The Class to Open New York Film Festival on Friday

Laurent Cantet's The Class was a surprise winner of this year's Palme d'Or at Cannes and will open the 2008 edition of the New York Film Festival at Manhattan's Ziegfeld theater on Friday. The fest will run through October 12. Highlights include Steven Soderbergh's nearly five hour long epic Che, Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler, and Oliver Assayas' moving family drama Summer Hours, with the always wonderful Juliette Binoche.
Read Marcy's review of The Class. We'll be back with daily recommendations from the fest.
