His father in an acclaimed set designer in Mexico. Luna decided at an early age to follow in his father's footsteps. He started his career in the entertainment industry at the early age of seven. He went on to become a teen soap star in "Abuelo y yo, El" and soon grabbed international attention with his role in Alfonso Cuarón's "Y Tu Mama Tambien."
Since then Diego Luna has appeared in the Oscar winning "Frida," John Carpenter's "Vampires: Los Muertos" and "Open Range." He starred opposite Romola Garai in "Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights." He was recently seen Steven Spielberg's "The Terminal" alongside Tom Hanks and Catherine Zeta-Jones and Gregory Jacobs's "Criminal" with John C. Reilly. Despite his success in Hollywood, Luna continues to work in his native country. He stars in an ensemble cast in Hugo Rodriguez's "Nicotina."The film, a huge hit in Mexico, is currently being released in the U.S. Upcoming releases for Luna include a starring role Carlos Bolado's "Solo Dios sabe" opposite Alice Braga and Luis Mandoki's political thriller "Amapola."
