Vivek Oberoi attended Mayo college in Ajmer. He was then discovered by the director of NYU during an actors workshop in London. Oberoi completed his Masters Degree in New York. Returning to India, he got his first big break in Ram Gopal Varma's gangster flick "Company" (2002).
Oberoi's career took off from there.Next in line was the psycho-thriller "Road" (2002) and then "Saathiya" (2002), opposite Bollywood superstar Rani Mukherjee which cemented his star status in the film industry. Highly publicized relationship with Mukherjee and Aishwarya Rai also didn't hurt his rise to fame.
