The Coen Brothers contribution to American film is enormous: visionary, ecclectic, epic and more. They have made themselves legendary with film fans for such masterful works as "Fargo," "The Big Lebowski," "Raising Arizona," "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" and the most recent offering "Intolerable Cruelty."
The Coen Brothers
Joel and Ethan Coen have become one of the most highly regarded talents on the contemporary American film scene. The Coen Brothers are renowned for such cult classics as "Raising Arizona," "Fargo," "Barton Fink" and "The Big Lebowski." in 2007, they released the dark adaptation of the Cormac McCarthy novel "No Country For Old Men."
No Country for Old Men
Cowboy Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin) finds a suitcase full of money out near the Rio Grande -- along with several dead Mexicans and a pick up truck full of heroin. The Coen Brothers' slick adaptation of the Cormac McCarthy novel No Country For Old Men is compelling from beginning to end.
Intolerable Cruelty
The official site of the Coen Brother's latest film starring George Clooney and Catherine Zeta Jones.
"Intolerable Cruelty" Movie Trailer
Watch the trailer of latest biting Coen Brother comedy "Intolerable Cruelty" starring George Clooney and Catherine Zeta Jones.
The Man Who Wasn't There
Less than a year after "O Brother Where Art Thou?", Joel and Ethan Coen are back with a film noir starring Billy Bob Thornton and Frances McDormand. Don't expect much humor from this dark confection, which won Best Director Award at Cannes 2001.
You Know for Kids, The Movies of the Coen Brothers
Every fact you want on the writing, editing and directing career of the Coens is available here.
The Big Lebowski (1998)
Compare Jeff Bridges as the pot smoking laid back Dude in this film and Mr. President in the "Contender." He's a great actor and this is a fun film. Overlooked by many, I enjoyed it more on a second viewing.
Fargo (1996)
A web ring devoted to this classic Fargo film.
Barton Fink (1991)
Writer's block is something I can relate to. Barton Fink is a deliciously uncomfortable film starring John Turturo as the tormented writer carrying around that cardboard box.
Miller's Crossing (1990)
Off the regular beat and track for the Coens: a gangster epic. It stars John Turturo and great actor Albert Finney.
Raising Arizona (1987)
This early Coen brothers film is one of my all time favorites. The babies are impossibly cute. It's hilarious when biker John Goodman forgets one on top of the car.
Blood Simple (1984)
This film was recently re-released. The Coen brothers sort of wished that it hadn't been. This is probably one of the only directors' cuts where the film got shorter.
The Gates of Eden
A rave review of Ethan Coen's first and only short story collection.
