But I'm A Cheerleader

Natasha Lyonne plays 17 year old Megan -- confident, strongwilled, and yes, a cheerleader, who is sent to "homosexual rehab camp" by her conservative parents who fear that she is a lesbian. Of course, the longer she spends in the camp with her new friend Graham, the more she begins to question just how fixed her sexuality really is.

Cast: Natasha Lyonne, RuPaul, Clea DuVall, Bud Cort, Cathy Moriarty
Director: Jamie Babbit
Distributor: Lion's Gate
Genre: Drama, Comedy

Reviews

IndieWIRE
"Jamie Babbit's directorial debut, But I'm a Cheerleader, is hilarious -- for about 30 minutes. It decelerates quickly after that. But where else are you going to see RuPaul as a reformed gay gone straight? Julie Delpy as a lipstick lesbian? Bud Cort and Mink Stole as stuffy conservative parents? A set design of pastel schtick?"

Filmcritic.com
"First-time feature director Jamie Babbit (whose few credits including directing the MTV series "Undressed" and acting as script supervisor on The Game) doesn't appear to have much ability behind the camera, which becomes painfully apparent after only a few minutes."

Box Office Magazine
"If good satire is fearless and takes no prisoners, But I'm A Cheerleader is craven and compromised.
