A movie with a lot to say about ambition, friendship and race. At a New Jersey restaurant staffed by waiters who share a dream of becoming actors, one of them (Brody) is caught romantically between two African American coworkers (Hill, Neal) in a culture that frowns on interracial relationships.

Cast: Adrien Brody, Elise Neal, Simon Baker, Lauryn Hill, Catherine Kellner, David Moscow, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Elon Gold, Lori Heuring, John Carroll Lynch, Jesse L. Martin, Michael Stoyanov, Vonte Sweet, Sybil Temchen

Director: Eric Bross (Ten Benny, Stranger than Fiction)

Reviews

A.O. Scott, The New York Times
"It takes very good actors to convey this kind of nuance, and the cast of Restaurant does consistently splendid work...[A]t its best, this is a movie of unusual integrity and insight.

Film.com
"Set in contemporary New Jersey, Restaurant initially plays like an episode of Friends that's been suddenly injected with a thorny awareness of race. The film gets an "A" for effort, but doesn't have the courage to really get as bloody, messy and dirty as its subject matter inherently is."

culturevulture
"Although the entire cast is excellent, including David Moscow, who steals the show, and singer Lauryn Hill, an excellent actress who merits more screen time, in the end Bross' film leaves us hungry."
