The Academy's nominations for Best Adapted Screenplay are:

Many good books were adapted this year, and adapted well. And once again, the Oscar nominations were off, way off. Sofia Coppola actually improved Jeffrey Eugenides' Virgin Suicides. Nick Hornby's slacker-boy-grows-up-makes-tapes-and-learns-about-love novel High Fidelity bored me, but the film was candy.
