The nominations for Best Original Screenplay:

ALMOST FAMOUS
BILLY ELLIOT
ERIN BROCKOVICH
GLADIATOR
YOU CAN COUNT ON ME

David Mamet's got the sharpest one-liners

Let's assume You Can Count On Me will win this one and I'll be happy. Good to throw the talented Cameron Crowe a bone because his coming-of-age rock and roll movie was a delight compared to the rest of the Best Picture Junk. But how could the Academy overlook the super crisp dialouge of David Mamet's State & Main? And O Brother is in this category because unlike the academy, I thought that the Coens added enough original ideas to Homer's epos.

The nominations for Best Original Screenplay, as they should be:

State & Main
You Can Count On Me
Almost Famous
Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai
O Brother Where Art Thou
