Requiem For a Dream
Requiem
For a Dream from director Darren Aronofsky (PI), stars Ellen Burstyn, Jared
Leto, Jennifer Connelly, and Marlon Wayans as a group of friends and drug addicts
living in Coney Island, Brooklyn. They each have high hopes of someday moving
on to better lives. They take drugs. Ellen Burstyn, who already has been talked
about as an Oscar contender, prefers diet pills. Her son and his girlfriend choose
heroin. This is a film about drugs. The closer these characters become to realize
their dreams, the deeper they fall into the pit of despair, finally coming up
against their worst nightmares. Requiem For a Dream is a psychologically
disturbing, visually captivating depiction of lost hope.

"Requiem for a Dream is grueling to watch and not all will care to stick it out. "The New York Times
"People may find it infuriating precisely because it's so intimidating, and it may leave you shaken. Be warned: it's a downer, and a knockout."
