Indie Spirit Award Nominations
Indie fave Parker Posey was nominated for best actress.
The awards season is kicking off again, and Indie Spirits are the best alternative to the Oscars. John Waters will host for the third consecutive year at this big Santa Monica beach party, where stars keeps their evening wear in the closet and reap their honors in casual attire.

Nicole Holofcener's Lovely & Amazing received the most nominations of any film, including Best Feature, Best Director, and Best Screenplay, Best Female Lead for Catherine Keener, Best Supporting Female for Emily Mortimer and Best Debut Performance for Raven Goodwin.

The 1950s-style melodrama Far From Heaven was second to Lovely & Amazing with five nominations, including notices for Female Lead (Julianne Moore), Supporting Actor (Dennis Quaid) and Director (Todd Haynes).
