Background:
Lara Dutta was born on April 16, 1978 in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Her father is Wing Commander L.K. Dutta and her mother is British national Jennifer Dutta. Composer and DJ Nitin Sawhney is Dutta's cousin. She was crowned Miss Universe in 2000 which led to her appointment as a UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador in 2001.
Trivia:
Lara Dutta was offered a role in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, but turned the part down because she didn't like the script.
Film Career:
Lara Dutta made her film debut in the Tamil film Arasatchi which was released in 2004. She made her Hindi debut in Andaaz which (2003). The film was a box office success and won her a Filmfare Best Female Debut Award. Dutta has since appeared regularly in films, including Masti (2004), Kaal(2005), Bhagam Bhag (2006), No Entry (2005) and Partner (2007).
