All over the planet, strange and mysterious creatures set out upon arduous journeys. Two small hobbits trek to Mordor and various flocks of birds fly to the Artic every summer. This week's top DVD releases are the extended version of Peter Jackson's epic trilogy "Lord of the Ring: The Two Towers" and Jacques Perrin's Oscar nominated documentary "Winged Migration."
1. "The Two Towers" Extended Edition
The ring, it's getting heavier: this week, the second installment of Peter Jackson's "Lord of the Rings" trilogy is available in a special edition 4-DVD set with an extended cut of the film and oodles of special features.
2. Winged Migration
One thing we can all agree upon: the footage in "Winged Migration" is amazing. Jacques Perrin directs and narrates the wordless celebration of birds in flight. Special features include the documentary Making Of and a featurette on the music, bonus interviews with the filmmakers, a slide show of stills with commentary, and trailers.
