By Jurgen Fauth & Marcy Dermansky, About.com

Sure, Peter Jackson's King Kong is the most talked-about release of the day. But if you want love and heartbreak that goes beyond the mind of a big ape, don't miss the Criterion Collection box set of three films by Louis Malle. A triple feature not easily forgotten, this much anticipated DVD release includes Murmur of the Heart, Lacombe, Lucien and Au revoir les enfants.

1. 3 Films by Louis Malle

Few directors have portrayed the agonies and epiphanies of growing up as poetically—and scandalously—as French filmmaker Louis Malle. Laced with autobiographical details Murmur of the Heart, Lacombe, Lucien and Au revoir les enfants tell stories of youth, set against the tumult of World War II and postwar France.

3. I Love Your Work

This quirky hip release deserves attention just for its clever casting. Giovanni Ribisi and Franke Potente play a red hot movie star couple struggling with the pitfalls of celebrity. Adam Goldberg's funny and incisive directorial debut follows the couple's demise (along with some interesting paranoid episodes.) The cast includes Christina Ricci, Elvis Costello, Joshua Jackson and Vince Vaughn.
