There Will Be Blood, The 11th Hour, Tick Tock Lullaby

By Jurgen Fauth & Marcy Dermansky, About.com

Drink that milkshake: Paul Thomas Anderson's masterpiece There Will Be Blood is out today on a 2-disc DVD set. Also, another film concerned with the evils of oil, the necessary eco-documentary The 11th Hour, narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio, and the British lesbian charmer Tick Tock Lullaby.

1. There Will Be Blood (2007)

Paramount Vantage
Paul Thomas Anderson's There Will Be Blood is the kind of film for which the cliche "instant classic" was invented. The pleasures of Daniel Day-Lewis' misanthropic oilman Daniel Plainview, Paul Dano's snivelling faith healer Eli Sunday, Robert Elswit's Oscar-winning cinematography, Jonny Greenwood's haunting score, and Anderson's endlessly quotable dialogue only deepen with repeated viewings. While thinner than fans would like, the 2-disc DVD set special features include outtakes, deleted scenes, and 15 Minutes, a montage that juxtaposes period stills and black-and-white footage from PTA's research with scenes from the movie.

2. The 11th Hour (2007)

Warner Home Video
It's unavoidable that the even-handed but alarming eco-documentary The 11th Hour will be compared to the Al Gore Oscar-winning An Inconvenient Truth, but climate change is only one of the film's topics. Leonardo DiCaprio narrates Nadia Conners and Leila Conners Petersen's necessary wake up call about the environment. Warner Home Video is releasing the eco friendly DVD at the low, low price of (no joke, folks) $4.99.

3. Tick Tock Lullaby (2006)

WOLFE VIDEO
English filmmaker Lisa Gornick's wry comedy Tick Tock Lullaby tells the story of Sasha (played by Gornick) and her attorney girlfriend Maya (Brit TV phenom Raquel Cassidy) in their struggle over whether -- and how -- to have a baby.
