The Darjeeling Limited and Death at a Funeral

By , About.com Guides

Two of our favorite films of 2007 are out this week on DVD: Wes Anderson's wonderful The Darjeeling Limited and also Frank Oz's overlooked, you'll-laugh-so-hard-you'll-cry comedy Death At Funeral.

1. The Darjeeling Limited

Fox Searchlight
Wes Anderson's story of three brothers on a train trip across India to find spiritual enlightenment filled us with delight. It was almost enough to look at the spectacle of Jason Scwartzman, Adrian Brody, and Owen Wilson filling the frame. Better still when they speak. The Darjeeling Limited features wonderful luggage, the debut of Amara Karan, a poisonous snake, a six thousand dollar belt, and an abundance of unprescribed pharmaceuticals.

2. Death at a Funeral

MGM (Video & DVD)
An uproarious comedy set at a proper English funeral? Frank Oz proves that it can and should be done. When mysterious guest Peter Dinklage threatens to unveil a family secret, mayhem breaks loose. Plus, the hilarious Alan Tudyk gets naked on a roof and considers jumping. The DVD release Death at a Funeral includes commentaries by director Frank Oz, writer Dean Craig, and actors Alan Tudyk and Andy Nyman.
