Jamie Foxx was honored by the group as Best Actor in "Ray," the tale of a musician who lost his sight while still a child and went on to become perhaps the greatest jazz and gospel pianist of the century; and Imelda Staunton as Best Actress for "Vera Drake," the tale of a selfless woman who made a living as a maid while giving abortions on the side; while top honors went to Martin Scorsese for directing "The Aviator."
