The two runner-ups were "Offside," an Iranian comedy that uses soccer mania to highlight the struggle for women's rights, and the Danish film "A Soap." The Silver Bear for Best Director went to Michael Winterbottom and Matt Whitecross for "The Road to Guantanamo," a film that recreates the true story of three British muslims held captive for two years at the U.S. detention facility.
