Synopsis:
Set in the 1930s and 1940s, before and during World War II, this tale of wartime romance focuses on Gilda Besse (Theron), a fashion photographer living in occupied Paris who shares her apartment with a Spanish Civil War refugee, Mia (Cruz) and an Irish schoolteacher, Guy (Townsend), with whom she falls in love. As Gilda's career blossoms, and the war wages on (including Paris becoming occupied by the Nazis), she finds herself separated from her friends as their personal politics send them down very different paths than the career-minded Gilda.
