Guillaume Depardieu, the son of Gerard Depardieu, died on October 12, 2008 at the age of 37. The cause of death was pneumonia, which he'd contracted three days earlier in Paris' Raymond Poincare hospital.

Like his famous father, Guillaume continued the tradition of acting. He appeared in more than twenty films. He starred alongside his father for the first time in director Alain Corneau's Tous les matins du monde (All the world's mornings) in 1991. He recently starred in Bertrand Bonello's De la guerre (Of war) and Versailles which is currently showing in theaters in Europe.

He gave a remarkably performance opposite Catherine Deneuve in Leos Carax's Pola X.

The actor had his right leg amputated in 2003 as result of a hospital infection developed during operations to recover from a motorbike accident in 1995.
