others
- i love all the Hayao Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli movies like Castle in the Sky, Howl's Moving Castle, Arrietty, Nausicaa, Whisper of the Heart and the three others that were already listed. Although most of Makoto Shinkai's movies are considered short films, his movies are really worth watching as well. I'm surprised 5 Centimeter Per Second which is super well known isn't on the list. Others by him that are worth watching is Hoshi no Koe, Hoshi o Ou Kodomo, and The Place Promised in Our Early Days. I also enjoyed the movie The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, I don't know who that's directed by though.

Millennium Actress
- This is one Satoshi Kon's finest anime movies. It's sophisticated yet emotional to the core. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and should be in the Top List.

Howl's Moving Castle !!!
- Only picking 3 Miyazaki films doesnt do him justice, Howl's Moving Castle should have easily made the list, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. My list would be (1) Spirited Away (2) Princess Mononoke (3) Howl's Moving Castle (4) Appleseed (5) My Neighbor Totoro (6) Ghost in the Shell (7) (although not a movie, rather an Anime) Witch Blade (8) Vampire Hunter D (9) Blood the Last Vampire (10) Ninja Scroll. Good list though =^.^=

have to agree.......mostly
- Your list is very close to my list, I do agree that Deans choice Wings of honneamise should be in it, that would be in my top 5. I would choose to have Mahromatic Maid and Elfen Lied in my top 10 though.

NIce list but missing
- Cool list and all but you are missing many of the key movies that are on lists like this top anime movie list http://www.filmcrave.com/list_genre_movie.php?genre=Anime

Missing
- Either your list is too old or you just haven't seen it, but in my humble opinion Paprika should be in that list. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0851578/

Good List
- Right on the nail. I could have tied Ghost in the Shell with Spirited Away, and maybe pulling Ghost in the Shell in 2nd by a cat hair.

Top ten
- The top ten I think are as follows: 1)Metropolis 2)Akira 3)spirited away 4)Ghost in the shell 5)Vampire hunter 'D' 6)Sword of the stranger 7)Sword for truth 8)Princess Moanoke 9)Escaflowne (The movie) 10)Castle In The Sky The reason I picked Metropolis as number one, is because the movie gives a clash of history mixed with the past that causes the near destruction of the earth. More over because of a girl who did not know she was humanity's answer to the future, but because of happenstance she had been injured by a gunshot. Within her activating a self defense mechanism which nearly destroys the earth. This was a wonderful film of vision and also the blend of music, more so of jazz that gives it a more surreal effect. With the last scenes song of I cant stop loving you, sung by Ray Charles. It gives us an insight that the people of the past and future must wake up from their own nightmares and see their beautiful city of 'Metropolis'.
